This must be the first time in history that the party acting as the ‘middle man’ in negotiations happens to be one of the main belligerents. I hope the Russians know what they are doing here.

The issue is that POWs sign a non-combatant contract when being released. They are strictly speaking barred from participating in the future war actions.
Ukr didn’t adhere to that when they got the Azov groups back out of Turkey.

Not AGAIN!!! I thought Russia realised that deals with the U.S. were useless. The ‘agreement’ to not target energy facilities was ALREADY broken by Ukraine. Also Russia has provided the opportunity to make it’s |ENEMY look like a peacemaker. We’ve been here before and it led to this current conflict.

Bearing in mind Ukraine conflict was a Nuland seed that grew into a giant problem for Russia .American nuclear missiles in ukraine and Georgia. I feel so much for Ukrainians and Russians, but over all I feel for Russia. They had this forced on them by Nuland since 2014. The ukraine was in control with the west and nato. The poor Russia were overwhelmed and had to say stop, and it meant force. Remember cuba, missiles in Americas back yard. Well this time no on listened or cared.

Deal was NOT signed, it is contingent on the lifting of the sanctions, which the Europeans refuse. Nothing is decided until everything is decided. Sloppy reporting, Dima!
I’ve been involved in contracts and you can’t have an agreement until both parties agree to all of the terms.

You know the tank crew no longer dont give a fuck when they leave a Abrams tank intact w.o rigging any explosives to prevent it from falling intact into Russian hands.
Russia is not only running out of flags they are also running out of museums to host their Abrams and Leopard 1&2 tanks, i guess they can park them at Bradley square…

This is the same deal that Russia agreed to in 2022, which was not honoured by USA. Ukraine, or any of “the West”. It is doubtful if it will do any better this time around!

Wrong. The situation for Ukraine will not be much worse if Russia gets what it wants and the war ends. Only the situation will be worse for the POLITICIANS and the groups that used the situation with them to take huge sums of money. As far as the people are concerned, most of the soldiers would sign peace today. Peace cannot bring anything bad to normal people.

International conventions prohibit using civilians ships for military purposes. Why does Russia need to sign an agreement about this?
And Dima says “Ukranians will not be ABLE to use civilian ships…” Ukranians will not have the right, but they were are and will be ABLE to use them!

That was a very good initial deal. No strikes on energy facilities, open up Black Sea shipping, lifting sanctions for agriculture and fertilizer exports. Every bit of it is tied to fighting hunger throughout the world and so it will be hard for warmongers and those who shout “appeasement” to slander it. And there will be pressure from across the world for all to keep the deal. No strikes on transportation facilities would be even better – but since those are so easily used for military purposes that will have to wait until we’re closer to a lasting peace.
Let this hold for several weeks and then start up the next round of talks. Slowly, over months, we can get peace.

Russia should take a leaf from the USA’s book: any agreement or treaty you sign can be safely abrogated if you find it no longer suits you.

If the US is a party to any deal likely they have already thought of workarounds that are morally wrong but don’t technically violate the agreement. Russia should be careful.

Did not the main Ukrainian negotiator just indicate in a Youtube video, that it does not matter what these negotiations imply or demand. He said they would continue to fight, would not retreat, and would never disarm. It appears that Zelensky is NOT the guy in control of his governmental agents. It is some other agency.
