Donald Trump to Legalize Marijuana or Weed if he Wins U.S. Elections?

In an early Saturday morning post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump, the Republican nominee for president in November’s election, spoke in favour of permitting Floridians to possess personal amounts of marijuana.

Former US President Donald Trump supported the legalization of marijuana for recreational use under certain conditions in his home state of Florida. He asserted that he was and will be again the most respected Law & Order President in U.S. history. He shared that Americans will reclaim their streets by applying tough and astute law enforcement to violent and other forms of crime. Amendment 3 will allow adults to possess up to three small amounts of marijuana for personal use in Florida, as it has in so many other states that have already approved it.

In his post, Trump expressed his desire for lawmakers in Florida to outlaw the use of marijuana in public areas. He does not, however, believe that possessing personal amounts of marijuana should be a crime. Nobody should be mourning a loved one who passed away from marijuana laced with fentanyl, and we don’t need to waste taxpayer dollars and ruin lives by arresting adults who have small amounts of the drug on them.

Reports on the use of marijuana laced with fentanyl have been inconsistent. Several reports of marijuana overdoses laced with fentanyl surfaced in 2017, but these reports were refuted by the fact-checking website Snopes.

Trump supporter Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, is against Amendment 3 and has established the Florida Freedom Fund, a political organization that is partially focused on opposing the legalization of marijuana for recreational use. Republican Florida state senator Joe Gruters, a former Florida Republican Party chair, expressed his support for Amendment 3 after Trump’s early Saturday morning post.

According to David Culver, senior vice president of public affairs for the US Cannabis Council, a group that advocates for the legalization of cannabis, Florida voters support Amendment 3 strongly and across party lines. President Trump’s backing could be crucial for the bill to pass the 60% threshold needed to become law. If elected in November, they’re interested in learning more about his plans for cannabis reform.

Trump wants Florida lawmakers to ban marijuana use in public areas but doesn’t believe personal marijuana possession should be a crime. He believes arresting adults with small amounts of marijuana is unnecessary and will bring America back to safety. Reports on fentanyl-laced marijuana use are inconsistent.
