Senator James Patterson Wants to Strip Australian Citizenship From Dual Citizens “Suspected of Foreign Influence”

Senator James Patterson wants to strip Australian citizenship from dual citizens “suspected of foreign influence”.
The Australian Government is currently introducing the Australian Citizenship Amendment (Citizenship Repudiation) Bill 2023 which would provide an appropriate mechanism to deal with dual Australian citizens who have committed crimes that are so serious and significant that they demonstrate the repudiation of their allegiance to Australia.
Traditionally this bill aimed to cancel the citizenship of convicted terrorists, but this week in Parliament, Senator James Patterson has attempted to broaden the range of offenses that could be an appropriate trigger for someone’s citizenship to be cancelled.
The expanded list of serious offenses will include:
Foreign influence;
(For, e.g. Retweeting RT)
Advocating terrorism and genocide; (E.g. tweeting “From the river to the sea)
Advocating violence against Australia’s national interest;
(For, e.g. tweeting that the death of an Australian mercenary is karma)
Senator James Patterson was quoted saying “The Government proposes to add to this bill—espionage and foreign interference as a betrayal of Australian citizenship, we think that these other serious crimes constitute that as well.”
PS. Senator Paterson is a known pro-Israel/pro-Ukraine fanatic who undoubtedly wants to misuse this new legislation to cancel the Australian citizenship of prominent political commentators, social media influencers, journalists, and anyone else who doesn’t agree with the current government narrative of the day.
